Runway Declared Distances - ASDA, TORA, TODA, LDA

Runway declared distances are published runway information numbers that help pilots and dispatcher plan for takeoff and landing. Using these numbers, they are able to calculate the limitations and performances on their aircraft for takeoff and landing.
Runway declared distance information can be found in the Chart Supplements provided by the FAA.

Extra Distances Added Or Removed to a Runway:
Displaced Threshold - portion of the runway that may be not used for landing, but can be used for takeoff.
Stop way - designated area at the end of a runway after the takeoff end that is designed to safety decelerate an aircraft in case of an aborted takeoff.
Clearway - designated area at the end of the runway that provides a buffer zone for aircraft to increase their takeoff distance. The area must be at least 500 ft wide and not have an upward slope of 1.25%.

| Acronyms | Name | Calculation |

| TORA | Takeoff Run Available | Displaced Threshold + Normal runway |
| TODA | Takeoff Distance Available | Displaced Threshold + Normal Runway + Stop way + Clearway |
